Macaroni Toy Time: K'NEX

I had the chance to check out the Amazin' 8 Coaster by K'NEX and had a lot of fun playing with it. There are a lot of pieces and wordless instructions, but they are simple to follow. I did most of the building, but my My 5-year-old and was able to follow the diagrams and create parts of the track using the color coded pieces. Once we built the coaster, we were excited about setting up the track and watching the car go! I will have to admit, I was surprised at the way the coater was pulled up by the motor and then, well, coasted through the rest the track-- what a great physics lesson. Watching the coaster reminded me of the penguin race toy, where the penguins climb up the stairs and then spin around the slides. It was fun to build AND fun to watch!

I think this is a great product because it exposes kids to engiuneering, physics and even creativity. Kids can choose to follow the directions, alter the coaster or just create thier own structire with the K/Nex
