Think you can't have an Easter basket without candy? Think again!
The basket pictured above is one our Easter Bunny will be delivering this year. The only piece of candy in it is the chocolate bunny. Filling a basket is more expensive when you use mostly non-candy items, but the trick is to fill it with items you were planning to buy anyway ... movies you want to own, toys for summer, more rainbow loom bands …
Here are over four dozen ideas to get you started!

10. Flower of Love

I always try and have my kids do something special for their grandmas for Mother’s Day, a project they can help with and that is meaningful. I am a HUGE fan of foam craft projects, especially for little ones, so last year my kids and I made these “flowers of love”.  Of course, grandma loved it…a flower she could keep year round, filled with loving words and a photo of her “babies”.  In fact, it is still on display in her den at home.

11. Easter Egg Paper Chain

At Christmastime, my daughter asked me to make her gingerbread men that were all together. I knew what she was talking about, but was really hoping I remembered how to do it. I gave it a little thought and got out the paper and scissors and it worked! My daughter was thrilled - and so was I. It is such a simple thing that takes you way back, but if you haven't done it for a while, it is hard to remember the little tricks.
We decided to do an egg chain for Easter.

12. Bunny Bowl

17. Easter Bunny Cake

I made this cake with my mom every Easter through my entire childhood. When I was 8, we left the cake to cool on the counter while we ran out to complete a few errands. Our Great Dane broke into the house while we were gone and ate the unfrosted cake. The entire thing. Including crumbs. When we got home, it actually took a while to realize the cake was gone because there was literally no trace of it.
That is just one of the happy memories I have with our Easter Bunny cake. Now that I'm making the cake with my own kids, I'm sure to make many more over the years. It is so cute and so easy ... I bet it becomes a tradition in your family too!

18. Make-You-Famous Spinach Salad & Egg Wraps
top image
If you do the annual Easter Egg Hunt, there is always the question of what to do with all of those hard boiled eggs! We still love to color eggs, but a few years ago we stopped HIDING them outside, as I was always concerned as a Mom about their safety being out in the grass and sun for an hour or so. I am sure they were fine; I mean WE lived through it and then kept and ate the eggs for days after in our own baskets! (What were our Moms thinking?)
At any rate, now the colored ones stay inside in the cool and we hide the plastic ones with treats outside instead, keeping the hard boiled ones safe and sound in the HOUSE to be later used in great recipes like THIS one! Enjoy!

19. Easter Egg "Snowflakes"

The same technique used to create beautiful paper snowflakes in the winter can be used to "decorate" paper Easter eggs this spring!
All it takes is some colored paper and a pair of scissors.
