Do You Know The Way To San Jose?

Macaroni Review: Family Destination #MacKidLovesSanJose

By Catherine Fialla July 31, 2014
Earlier this month I had the opportunity to visit San Jose California. Although it's, well, all the way across the country, it's a great place to visit and take your family on an adventure.

Our first stop was San Pedro Square Market. The best way to describe it is that it's a like super-cool food truck rally except that it's a variety of stationary restaurants... only better! There is an outdoor seating area featuring live music on the weekends. The whole area is laid back, kid friendly and just a fun place to be.

The food was sooo good (and there were so many options to choose from!) These tasty goodies came from Loteria Taco BarSama-zama and Chocatoo

Just outside The Fairmont San Jose is a large park, perfect for relaxing, letting the kids run off some steam or a quick family picnic. There is also fountain splash area where kids can cool off.

We took on a walking tour of the city-- something that I have never done before, but will surely try to do the next time I visit a new city. There is a lot of history in San Jose and some beautiful architecture. One thing I noticed was there were gorgeous plants and flowers all around the city!

Next stop: The Winchester Mystery House, "the world's oddest mansion." This place was neat! Zig-zag hallways, windows and doors that lead nowhere, bizarre staircases and beautiful stained glass windows and woodwork make up this amazing mansion. My oldest told me to be sure to stay with my guide so that I didn't get lost. He would have loved it!

The San Jose Museun of Art is a work of art itself on both the outside and inside. The theme throughout the museum is, "See what you think." The museum offers several ways for visitors, both children & adults, to interact with art throughout the museum. There is even one exhibit where the visitors artwork becomes the exhibit.

Although I didn't have a lot of time to spend there and it would have been SO much fun if my kids were with me, The Tech Museum of Innovation was my favorite part of San Jose. Where else can you put jellyfish DNA into real bacteria and make them GLOW, see what's inside a Furby and learn what makes it work, or build and program your own robot? This place was awesome!

Thank you Team San Jose for showing us around your fabulous city! I ♥ San Jose!
