Let the playing begin!
Paul Sanders Park in Brandon, home to one of Hillsborough County's most heavily used playgrounds, will reopen Saturday after a two-month project to upgrade and expand the park. All of the playground equipment was replaced, and additional play structures were added. The equipment includes traditional swings and slides along with next-generation playground equipment that encourages children of all abilities to climb, run, and play. New equipment includes a Tyrannosaurus Rex that appears to be arising from the earth, and playground pieces designed to help children on the autism spectrum who become overstimulated.
As part of the $315,000 project, workers renovated the restrooms/shelters, repaved the parking lot, added sidewalks, and created an additional entrance to improve traffic flow.
The park, 602 W. Bloomingdale Ave. in Brandon, will be open from sunrise to sunset.
