Unexpected Taylor Swift Connection
Sometimes fate shows up in an amazing way. I recently shared a facebook reel from my seat at the Taylor Swift concert in Tampa. Someone I had never met or spoken to shared the reel and added such thoughtful words to what that short video represented to her. Little did I know what scrolling through her page would do for me. As I scrolled and saw her beautiful posts and realized she was a local author, who, like myself faces the daily challenges of facial paralysis. Our encounter not only allowed me to find this magical book but also a newfound connection with someone who understands the ups and downs of living with a visible difference.
Amy (read more about her here) graciously agreed to meet in person and gifted me a copy of her book The Hunt for my Smile which has been such a treasure even after all of my years of having residual paralysis from Bell´s Palsy. Reading the book, I have experienced laughter, tears and a connection with people across the globe with my shared experiences. I hope by sharing this connection, it gives others the courage to embrace our own unique journeys and uplift one another, knowing that through sharing our experiences, we can foster a more compassionate and understanding world.
