Description

The City of Madeira Beach will launch its Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular from the Madeira Beach Fundamental School, 591 Tom Stuart Causeway, at approximately 9 p.m., Thursday, July 4th. The fireworks show, produced by Xtreme FX of Port Charlotte, FL will last approximately 24-minutes and will feature high altitude detonations with a multi-display grand finale.

“Staff spent a lot of time looking at numerous locations for launching the fireworks so the most people could see the show,” said Jonathan Evans, City Manager. “We would like to thank Madeira Beach Fundamental Principal Chris Ateek and the Pinellas County School Board for stepping up to provide a location visible from just about anywhere on the island.”

Boaters are advised to steer clear of the fallout zone, just south of Tom Stuart Causeway, which will be clearly marked and patrolled by two units from the the Pinellas Count Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol. In the days leading up to the 4th of July, the US Coast Guard will also patrol the area to advise boaters about moving their vessels. Any vessels unable to move under their own power can be towed to a location outside of the fallout zone by the city at no cost to the vessel owner.

“Madeira Beach Fundamental jumped at the chance to be a part of this event,” said Principal Chris Ateek. “Independence, diversity, freedom of speech, thought and opinion were principals upon which our nation was born and the fact that we continue to teach them today is worth celebrating.”

While the fireworks will be visible from virtually anywhere in Madeira beach, prime viewing locations for the fireworks include Causeway Park, 424 150th Ave., ROC Park, 200 Rex Place, and the Holten Property, 555 150th Ave. Each of these locations will have free parking on a first come, first served basis. The city is encouraging anyone planning to attend the fireworks show to use alternative transportation such as Uber or Lyft, bicycles, or car pooling. The ROC Park and Causeway Park locations will be open all day, while the Holten property will open at 3 p.m.

Beach chairs, blankets, sunscreen, comfortable clothing and shoes are encouraged. For more information, contact Curt Preisser, City of Madeira Beach Public Information Officer at 727-391-9951 x299 or cpreisser@madeirabeachfl.gov
